China Frozen Fruits And Vegetables Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the frozen fruits and vegetables price stood at $1,383 per ton, therefore (FOB, China), remained relatively stable against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2022 when the average export price increased by 2.4% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,398 per ton in January 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Australia ($2,535 per ton), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($997 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Frozen Fruits And Vegetables Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was frozen fruit and nuts ($1,977 per ton), while the average price for exports of frozen sweet corn ($864 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: frozen potato (+0.5%), while the prices for the other products experienced a decline.
China Frozen Fruits And Vegetables Exports
In September 2022, approximately 121K tons of frozen fruits and vegetables were exported from China; shrinking by -4.2% against the previous month's figure. In general, exports showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 52% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 153K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen fruits and vegetables exports dropped to $167M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 54% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 214K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
China Frozen Fruits And Vegetables Exports by Type
Frozen vegetables other than potato and corn (93K tons) was the largest type of frozen fruits and vegetables exported from China, with a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, frozen vegetables other than potato and corn exceeded the volume of the second product type, frozen potatoes (11K tons), eightfold. Frozen fruit and nuts (9.6K tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of frozen vegetables other than potato and corn totaled -4.1%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: frozen potatoes (+2.6% per month) and frozen fruit and nuts (-0.2% per month).
In value terms, frozen vegetables other than potato and corn ($129M) remains the largest type of frozen fruits and vegetables exported from China, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by frozen fruit and nuts ($19M), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by frozen potatoes, with an 8% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of frozen vegetables other than potato and corn stood at -4.1%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: frozen fruit and nuts (-0.5% per month) and frozen potatoes (+3.2% per month).
China Frozen Fruits And Vegetables Exports by Country
South Korea (5.3K tons), Japan (4.6K tons) and the Philippines (3.6K tons) were the main destinations of frozen fruits and vegetables exports from China, with a combined 11% share of total exports. Thailand, Chile, Indonesia, the United States, Russia, Australia, Vietnam, Canada, Algeria and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.1%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Algeria (with a CAGR of +42.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($8.1M), South Korea ($5.5M) and the Philippines ($4.2M) constituted the largest markets for frozen fruits and vegetables exported from China worldwide, together comprising 11% of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Chile, Australia, Indonesia, the United States, Russia, Canada, Vietnam, the UK and Algeria, which together accounted for a further 8.5%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Algeria, with a CAGR of +36.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
