U.S. Frozen Pork Cut Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the frozen pork cut price per ton stood at $2.6K (FOB, US), growing by 5% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.3% against the previous month. The export price peaked in August 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($4.0K per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($2.1K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Frozen Pork Cut Exports
Frozen pork cut exports from the United States rose sharply to 5.1K tons in August 2022, with an increase of 12% on the month before. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from January 2022 to August 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +6.3% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, exports decreased by -17.2% against June 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 36% month-to-month.
In value terms, frozen pork cut exports skyrocketed to $13M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from January 2022 to August 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +7.8% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, exports decreased by -9.2% against June 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 with an increase of 26% against the previous month.
U.S. Frozen Pork Cut Exports by Country
The Dominican Republic (956 tons), Colombia (824 tons) and China (812 tons) were the main destinations of frozen pork cut exports from the United States, together comprising 51% of total exports. These countries were followed by Mexico, South Korea, Honduras, El Salvador, the Philippines, Guatemala, Bahamas, Canada, Hong Kong SAR, Trinidad and Tobago and Japan, which together accounted for a further 42%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Canada (with a CAGR of +72.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Dominican Republic ($2.2M), Colombia ($1.8M) and China ($1.7M) constituted the largest markets for frozen pork cut exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 44% share of total exports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Mexico, the Philippines, El Salvador, Honduras, Bahamas, Guatemala, Hong Kong SAR, Canada, Japan and Trinidad and Tobago, which together accounted for a further 49%.
Trinidad and Tobago, with a CAGR of +74.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
