U.S. Frozen Vegetables Import Price per Ton in January 2022
In January 2022, the frozen vegetables price per ton amounted to $1.4K (CIF, US), dropping by -3.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2021 an increase of 4.3% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1.4K per ton in November 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to January 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($1.6K per ton), while the price for Poland ($801.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Frozen Vegetables Imports
In February 2022, approximately 55K tons of frozen vegetables and mixtures of vegetables were imported into the United States; reducing by -33.2% compared with January 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2021 with an increase of 16% m-o-m.
In value terms, frozen vegetables imports fell markedly to $75M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous month.
U.S. Frozen Vegetables Imports by Country
Mexico (8.1K tons), Canada (6.3K tons) and China (4.2K tons) were the main suppliers of frozen vegetables imports to the United States, together comprising 23% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Spain, Egypt, Poland, Guatemala and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 12%.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the biggest increases were in Egypt (with a CAGR of +2.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Mexico ($12M), Canada ($8M) and China ($3.7M) constituted the largest frozen vegetables suppliers to the United States, with a combined 21% share of total imports. Belgium, Spain, Egypt, Guatemala, Poland and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.
Among the main suppliers, Egypt, with a CAGR of +0.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
