U.S. Glass Fibre Fabrics Import Price in December 2021
In December 2021, the glass fibre fabrics price stood at $1,242 per ton (CIF, US), dropping by -9.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 38% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,666 per ton in April 2021; however, from May 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($2,532 per ton), while the price for China ($827 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Glass Fibre Fabrics Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In December 2021, the product with the highest price was glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), of a width not exceeding 30cm ($2,631 per ton), while the price for glass fibres; woven fabrics of rovings ($937 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), n.e.s. in item no. 7019.5 (+2.5%), while the prices for the other products experienced a decline.
U.S. Glass Fibre Fabrics Imports
In December 2021, the amount of glass fibre fabrics imported into the United States skyrocketed to 9.6K tons, increasing by 20% against the previous month's figure. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% from January 2021 to December 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2021 with an increase of 44% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 11K tons in March 2021; however, from April 2021 to December 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports totaled $12M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8% from January 2021 to December 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2021 when imports increased by 38% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 15K tons in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to December 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Glass Fibre Fabrics Imports by Type
In December 2021, glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), of a width exceeding 30cm, plain weave, weighing less than 250g/m2, of filaments measuring per single yarn not more than 136 tex (5K tons) constituted the largest type of glass fibre fabrics supplied to the United States, accounting for a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), of a width exceeding 30cm, plain weave, weighing less than 250g/m2, of filaments measuring per single yarn not more than 136 tex exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), n.e.s. in item no. 7019.5 (2.2K tons), twofold. Glass fibres; woven fabrics of rovings (2.1K tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 22% share.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), of a width exceeding 30cm, plain weave, weighing less than 250g/m2, of filaments measuring per single yarn not more than 136 tex was relatively modest. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), n.e.s. in item no. 7019.5 (-0.7% per month) and glass fibres; woven fabrics of rovings (+9.0% per month).
In value terms, the most traded types of glass fibre fabrics in the United States were glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), of a width exceeding 30cm, plain weave, weighing less than 250g/m2, of filaments measuring per single yarn not more than 136 tex ($5M), glass fibres; woven fabrics (other than of rovings), n.e.s. in item no. 7019.5 ($4.2M) and glass fibres; woven fabrics of rovings ($2M), together accounting for 94% of total imports.
U.S. Glass Fibre Fabrics Imports by Country
Mexico (4K tons), China (3.6K tons) and South Korea (651 tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibre fabrics imports to the United States, together accounting for 86% of total imports. Canada, Germany, Taiwan (Chinese) and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.9%.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +31.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest glass fibre fabrics suppliers to the United States were Mexico ($3.7M), China ($3M) and South Korea ($951K), with a combined 64% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Canada, India and Taiwan (Chinese), which together accounted for a further 14%.
