China Glass Fibre and Article Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the glass fibre and article price stood at $1,890 per ton (FOB, China), surging by 5.3% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 10% against the previous month. The export price peaked in September 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($3,440 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($930 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Glass Fibre and Article Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers ($4,906 per ton), while the average price for exports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles stood at $1,114 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: glass fiber (+2.0%), while the prices for the other product experienced mixed trend patterns.
China Glass Fibre and Article Exports
For the fourth consecutive month, China recorded decline in overseas shipments of glass fibres and glass fibre articles, which decreased by -13.7% to 74K tons in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 37% against the previous month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 154K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass fibre and article exports shrank to $139M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 33% month-to-month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $233M. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
China Glass Fibre and Article Exports by Type
Glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles (59K tons) was the largest type of glass fibre and article exported from China, accounting for a 80% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles exceeded the volume of the second product type, voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers (15K tons), fourfold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles totaled -7.1%.
In value terms, the most traded types of glass fibres and glass fibre articles in China were voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers ($74M) and glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles ($65M).
In terms of the main product categories, glass fiber, with a CAGR of -2.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review.
China Glass Fibre and Article Exports by Country
India (9.8K tons), South Korea (8.9K tons) and the United States (8.6K tons) were the main destinations of glass fibre and article exports from China, with a combined 37% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +1.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($16M), India ($14M) and South Korea ($14M) constituted the largest markets for glass fibre and article exported from China worldwide, together comprising 31% of total exports.
India, with a CAGR of +0.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
