U.S. GPS Navigator Import Price in June 2022
The average GPS navigator import price stood at $6,827 per unit in June 2022, falling by -2% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 an increase of 50% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $9,775 per unit in January 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to June 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($29,942 per unit), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($153 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. GPS Navigator Imports
In July 2022, overseas purchases of aeronautical or space navigation instruments and appliances decreased by -19.4% to 7K units for the first time since April 2022, thus ending a two-month rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from January 2022 to July 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +6.2% over the last six-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2022 figures, imports decreased by -19.4% against June 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 123% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 11K units; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2022.
In value terms, GPS navigator imports shrank to $52M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the period from January 2022 to July 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 when imports increased by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 59M units in June 2022, and then dropped in the following month.
U.S. GPS Navigator Imports by Country
In June 2022, Taiwan (Chinese) (2.9K units) constituted the largest supplier of GPS navigator to the United States, with a 33% share of total imports. Moreover, GPS navigator imports from Taiwan (Chinese) exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (1.1K units), threefold. Mexico (806 units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.3% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Taiwan (Chinese) stood at +47.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: France (-6.3% per month) and Mexico (+20.1% per month).
In value terms, France ($32M) constituted the largest supplier of GPS navigator to the United States, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($7.9M), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with an 11% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from France amounted to +4.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: the UK (+11.4% per month) and Germany (+6.6% per month).
