U.S. Grape Wine Spirits Import Price in August 2022
In August 2022, the grape wine spirits price amounted to $32 per litre (CIF, US), with a decrease of -3.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average import price increased by 8.6% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $33 per litre in July 2022, and then shrank in the following month.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for France.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for France amounted to +0.6% per month.
U.S. Grape Wine Spirits Imports
In August 2022, grape wine spirits imports into the United States soared to 7.8M litres, increasing by 19% on July 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from January 2022 to August 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +7.7% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, imports decreased by -6.3% against June 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 38% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 8.3M litres in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to August 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, grape wine spirits imports soared to $248M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from January 2022 to August 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +8.4% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, imports decreased by -7.5% against June 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 49% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 268M litres in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to August 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
