Green Bean Prices in the United States

U.S. Green Bean Import Price per Ton in August 2022

In August 2022, the green bean price per ton stood at $1.9K (CIF, US), falling by -2.4% against the previous month. Over the last seven months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2.1K per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to August 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($2.8K per ton), while the price for Mexico ($1.5K per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Green Bean Imports

In August 2022, supplies from abroad of green beans was finally on the rise to reach 7.1K tons for the first time since January 2022, thus ending a six-month declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep slump.

In value terms, green bean imports rose remarkably to $13M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible reduction.

U.S. Green Bean Imports by Country

Mexico (3.8K tons), Guatemala (2.3K tons) and Canada (900 tons) were the main suppliers of green bean imports to the United States, together comprising 99% of total imports.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Canada (with a CAGR of +62.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Guatemala ($6.3M), Mexico ($5.7M) and Canada ($1.4M) appeared to be the largest green bean suppliers to the United States, together accounting for 99% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Canada, with a CAGR of +79.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
