Green Peas Prices in the United States

U.S. Green Peas Import Price per Ton in August 2022

In August 2022, the green peas price per ton stood at $2.7K (CIF, US), remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 an increase of 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in August 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Peru ($3.2K per ton), while the price for Canada ($863.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Green Peas Imports

In August 2022, supplies from abroad of peas (green) increased by 37% to 2.5K tons for the first time since March 2022, thus ending a four-month declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn.

In value terms, green peas imports soared to $6.7M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump.

U.S. Green Peas Imports by Country

Guatemala (1.2K tons), Peru (967 tons) and Mexico (198 tons) were the main suppliers of green peas imports to the United States, with a combined 95% share of total imports.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Peru (with a CAGR of +124.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the largest green peas suppliers to the United States were Guatemala ($3.2M), Peru ($3.1M) and Mexico ($338K), with a combined 98% share of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Peru, with a CAGR of +131.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
