China Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the halogenated hydrocarbon derivative price stood at $2,968 per ton (FOB, China), declining by -5.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 31% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,965 per ton. From March 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($5,783 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($883 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+13.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Exports
Halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports from China shrank slightly to 86K tons in September 2022, dropping by -2.6% on August 2022. In general, total exports indicated a tangible expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports decreased by -19.2% against July 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 75% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 107K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports contracted to $256M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a notable expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports decreased by -22.9% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when exports increased by 50% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 333K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
China Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Exports by Country
South Korea (11K tons), India (11K tons) and the United States (10K tons) were the main destinations of halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports from China, together accounting for 37% of total exports. Vietnam, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Turkey and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Brazil (with a CAGR of +23.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exported from China were the United States ($44M), India ($28M) and Japan ($27M), together comprising 39% of total exports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, the Netherlands, Vietnam, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Indonesia and Nigeria, which together accounted for a further 35%.
Brazil, with a CAGR of +25.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
