Hand-Made Lace Prices in China

China Hand-Made Lace Export Price in December 2021

In December 2021, the hand-made lace price stood at $4,898 per ton (FOB, China), declining by -24.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2021 an increase of 249% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $14.1 per kg in May 2021; however, from June 2021 to December 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($17.5 per kg), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($840 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Hand-Made Lace Exports

In December 2021, the amount of hand-made lace in the piece, in strips or in motifs exported from China declined modestly to 11 tons, which is down by -4.7% against the month before. Overall, exports saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2021 with an increase of 193% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 24 tons; afterwards, it flattened through to December 2021.

In value terms, hand-made lace exports reduced markedly to $52K (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2021 when exports increased by 134% m-o-m. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $237K. From May 2021 to December 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

China Hand-Made Lace Exports by Country

Oman (3.2 tons), Nigeria (2.9 tons) and Pakistan (1.6 tons) were the main destinations of hand-made lace exports from China, with a combined 72% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Myanmar, India and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 27%.

From February 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +32.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for hand-made lace exported from China were India ($19K), Oman ($11K) and Nigeria ($10K), with a combined 75% share of total exports. Myanmar, Vietnam and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +30.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
