U.S. Hydantoin Import Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the hydantoin price per ton amounted to $15.5K (CIF, US), growing by 64% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when the average import price increased by 74% against the previous month. The import price peaked in August 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($23.3K per ton), while the price for Spain ($7.8K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+25.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Hydantoin Imports
In August 2022, approximately 257 tons of hydantoin and its derivatives were imported into the United States; picking up by 10% compared with the previous month's figure. In general, imports saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 when imports increased by 79% m-o-m.
In value terms, hydantoin imports surged to $4M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 92% month-to-month.
U.S. Hydantoin Imports by Country
In August 2022, China (216 tons) constituted the largest hydantoin supplier to the United States, accounting for a 84% share of total imports. Moreover, hydantoin imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (30 tons), sevenfold. Spain (6 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.3% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +10.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.4% per month) and Spain (+15.7% per month).
In value terms, China ($3.1M) constituted the largest supplier of hydantoin to the United States, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($699K), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 1.3% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +39.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.7% per month) and India (+45.2% per month).
