U.S. Iron Or Steel Pipe And Tube Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the iron or steel pipe and tube price per ton stood at $1.9K (CIF, US), almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the last five months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.4% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2.0K per ton. From May 2022 to June 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($3.2K per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1.2K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplied products. From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, seamless, of iron (other than cast iron) or steel (+4.0%), while the prices for the other products experienced a decline.
U.S. Iron Or Steel Pipe And Tube Imports
In June 2022, the amount of tubes, pipes and hollow profiles (of iron or steel) imported into the United States declined slightly to 482K tons, dropping by -4.9% compared with the previous month's figure. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +6.3% from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 34% against the previous month.
In value terms, imports of tubes, pipes and hollow profiles (of iron or steel) contracted to $934M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +7.4% over the period from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 27% against the previous month.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of tubes, pipes and hollow profiles (eg open seam or welded, riveted or similarly closed), of iron or steel stood at +11.8%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, seamless, of iron (other than cast iron) or steel (-3.5% per month) and tubes and pipes (eg welded, riveted or similarly closed), internal and external circular cross-sections, external diameter of which exceeds 406.4mm, of iron or steel (+22.8% per month).
