U.S. Iron or Steel Tube Fitting Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the iron or steel tube fitting price per ton stood at $5.7K (CIF, US), rising by 3.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 an increase of 4.1% month-to-month. The import price peaked in June 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($10.7K per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($3.0K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Iron or Steel Tube Fitting Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In June 2022, the product with the highest price was tube or pipe fittings of stainless steel, other than flanges, elbows, bends, sleeves or butt welding fittings ($22.3K per ton), while the price for tube or pipe flanges, other than stainless steel ($2.4K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by iron or steel cast fittings, of non-malleable cast iron (+4.8%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Iron or Steel Tube Fitting Imports
Iron or steel tube fitting imports into the United States declined modestly to 49K tons in June 2022, dropping by -2.7% against the previous month. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8% from January 2022 to June 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 23% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 51K tons. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, iron or steel tube fitting imports totaled $282M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the period from January 2022 to June 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 28% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $282M. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Iron or Steel Tube Fitting Imports by Type
Iron or steel cast fittings, other than of non-malleable cast iron (18K tons), tube or pipe flanges, other than stainless steel (12K tons) and tube or pipe threaded elbows, bends and sleeves, other than stainless steel (11K tons) were the main products of iron or steel tube fitting imports to the United States, together accounting for 68% of total imports. These products were followed by tube or pipe fittings of non-stainless steel, other than flanges, elbows, bends, sleeves or butt welding fittings, tube or pipe butt welding fittings, other than stainless steel, tube or pipe flanges of stainless steel, tube or pipe fittings of stainless steel, other than flanges, elbows, bends, sleeves or butt welding fittings, tube or pipe butt welding fittings of stainless steel, tube or pipe threaded elbows, bends and sleeves of stainless steel and tube or pipe fittings of non-malleable cast iron, which together accounted for a further 32%.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the biggest increases were in tube or pipe butt welding fittings of stainless steel (with a CAGR of +10.4%), while purchases for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, iron or steel cast fittings, other than of non-malleable cast iron ($54M), tube or pipe threaded elbows, bends and sleeves, other than stainless steel ($48M) and tube or pipe fittings of non-stainless steel, other than flanges, elbows, bends, sleeves or butt welding fittings ($43M) constituted the most imported types of tube or pipe fittings (of iron or steel) in the United States, together accounting for 51% of total imports. These products were followed by tube or pipe fittings of stainless steel, other than flanges, elbows, bends, sleeves or butt welding fittings, tube or pipe flanges, other than stainless steel, tube or pipe flanges of stainless steel, tube or pipe butt welding fittings, other than stainless steel, tube or pipe butt welding fittings of stainless steel, tube or pipe threaded elbows, bends and sleeves of stainless steel and tube or pipe fittings of non-malleable cast iron, which together accounted for a further 49%.
U.S. Iron or Steel Tube Fitting Imports by Country
China (18K tons), India (9.4K tons) and South Korea (3.9K tons) were the main suppliers of iron or steel tube fitting imports to the United States, with a combined 64% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Mexico, Thailand, Italy, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), Canada and Colombia, which together accounted for a further 29%.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Canada (with a CAGR of +18.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest iron or steel tube fitting suppliers to the United States were China ($74M), India ($40M) and South Korea ($27M), with a combined 50% share of total imports. Italy, Mexico, Taiwan (Chinese), Canada, Vietnam, Colombia, Thailand and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
Colombia, with a CAGR of +16.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
