China Lauryl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol And Other Saturated Monohydric Alcohols Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and other saturated monohydric alcohols price stood at $1,524 per ton (CIF, China), waning by -37.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 35% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,422 per ton, and then dropped significantly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,578 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($1,052 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, after three months of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and other saturated monohydric alcohols (excluding methyl, propyl and isopropyl, n-butyl, other butanols, octyl), when their volume increased by 133% to 26K tons. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at 31K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and other saturated monohydric alcohols (excluding methyl, propyl and isopropyl, n-butyl, other butanols, octyl) skyrocketed to $40M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 100% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $63M. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.

In September 2022, Singapore (20K tons) constituted the largest supplier of lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and other saturated monohydric alcohols to China, accounting for a 74% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and other saturated monohydric alcohols (excluding methyl, propyl and isopropyl, n-butyl, other butanols, octyl) from Singapore exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (1.9K tons), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Malaysia (1.5K tons), with a 5.9% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Singapore was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Indonesia (-0.8% per month) and Malaysia (-1.2% per month).
In value terms, Singapore ($21M) constituted the largest supplier of lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and other saturated monohydric alcohols to China, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($5M), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with an 11% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Singapore amounted to -4.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+3.7% per month) and Indonesia (-0.5% per month).
