U.S. LCDs And Plasmas Import Price in June 2022
In June 2022, the lcds and plasmas price amounted to $161 per unit (CIF, US), growing by 16% against the previous month. Over the last five-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($271 per unit), while the price for Japan ($82 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. LCDs And Plasmas Imports
For the third month in a row, the United States recorded decline in supplies from abroad of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma, which decreased by -4.7% to 920K units in June 2022. Overall, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 22% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.2M units. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, LCDs and plasmas imports totaled $148M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 22% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $179M. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. LCDs And Plasmas Imports by Country
China (376K units), Mexico (299K units) and Vietnam (72K units) were the main suppliers of LCDs and plasmas imports to the United States, with a combined 81% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +51.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($67M), China ($39M) and South Korea ($13M) constituted the largest LCDs and plasmas suppliers to the United States, together comprising 81% of total imports. Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese) and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +20.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
