U.S. Lift, Elevator, Stairway and Dragline Import Price in August 2022
In August 2022, the average import price for lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines amounted to $3,037 per unit, growing by 8.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 an increase of 121% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,777 per unit in January 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was the UK ($25,369 per unit), while the price for Germany ($892 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+28.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Lift, Elevator, Stairway and Dragline Imports
In August 2022, overseas purchases of lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines decreased by -4.5% to 15K units, falling for the second consecutive month after two months of growth. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 53% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 33K units in June 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2022.
In value terms, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports expanded to $47M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain months. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 when imports increased by 17% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $52M. From June 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Lift, Elevator, Stairway and Dragline Imports by Country
China (5.1K units), Germany (3.4K units) and Canada (3.4K units) were the main suppliers of lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports to the United States, with a combined 78% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Germany (with a CAGR of +35.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Canada ($17M) constituted the largest supplier of lift, elevator, stairway and dragline to the United States, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($6M), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 12% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Canada amounted to +2.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Italy (+25.4% per month) and the UK (+7.5% per month).
