U.S. Lysine Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the lysine price per ton amounted to $1.1K (FOB, US), growing by 5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.7% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1.3K per ton. From July 2022 to August 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($2.1K per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($824.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
U.S. Lysine Exports
In August 2022, overseas shipments of lysine and its esters, and salts thereof increased by 5.5% to 12K tons, rising for the second month in a row after three months of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 with an increase of 46% month-to-month.
In value terms, lysine exports expanded markedly to $13M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 35% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $23M. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
U.S. Lysine Exports by Country
Spain (4.1K tons), the Netherlands (3.9K tons) and Mexico (2.7K tons) were the main destinations of lysine exports from the United States, together accounting for 93% of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Mexico (with a CAGR of +4.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest markets for lysine exported from the United States were Mexico ($3.9M), the Netherlands ($3.4M) and Spain ($3.4M), with a combined 83% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Mexico, with a CAGR of +5.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
