U.S. Machinery Electrical Parts Import Price in December 2021
In December 2021, the machinery electrical parts price amounted to $7,093 per ton (CIF, US), surging by 18% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated moderate growth from January 2021 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, machinery electrical parts import price increased by +17.9% against November 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2021 when the average import price increased by 130% m-o-m. The import price peaked in December 2021.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Norway ($76.5 per kg), while the price for Vietnam ($2,001 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Machinery Electrical Parts Imports
In December 2021, supplies from abroad of electrical parts of machinery or apparatus increased by 4.2% to 3.7K tons, rising for the second month in a row after two months of decline. Overall, imports continue to indicate modest growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2021 when imports increased by 116% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 7.5K tons. From May 2021 to December 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, machinery electrical parts imports surged to $27M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from January 2021 to December 2021: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +5.4% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, imports increased by +36.6% against October 2021 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
U.S. Machinery Electrical Parts Imports by Country
China (1.1K tons), Mexico (1K tons) and Malaysia (435 tons) were the main suppliers of machinery electrical parts imports to the United States, with a combined 68% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), Thailand and Norway, which together accounted for a further 26%.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the biggest increases were in Norway (with a CAGR of +162.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest machinery electrical parts suppliers to the United States were Mexico ($7.3M), Norway ($4.8M) and Japan ($4M), together comprising 61% of total imports.
Norway, with a CAGR of +93.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
