China Maize Bran Export Price in June 2020
In June 2020, the maize bran price stood at $388 per ton (FOB, China), remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a prominent increase from March 2020 to June 2020: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +16.8% over the last three-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2020 figures, maize bran export price increased by +59.2% against March 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2020 when the average export price increased by 54% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $389 per ton in May 2020, and then dropped slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($430 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($199 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2020 to June 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Maize Bran Exports
In June 2020, after three months of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of maize bran, when their volume decreased by -24.6% to 1.5K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2020 when exports increased by 223% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2K tons, and then fell markedly in the following month.
In value terms, maize bran exports declined sharply to $591K (IndexBox estimates) in June 2020. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2020 when exports increased by 235% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $787K, and then dropped notably in the following month.
China Maize Bran Exports by Country
Malaysia (800 tons), Bangladesh (440 tons) and Japan (281 tons) were the main destinations of maize bran exports from China, with a combined 100% share of total exports.
From March 2020 to June 2020, the biggest increases were in Malaysia (with a CAGR of +263.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Malaysia ($344K), Bangladesh ($189K) and Japan ($56K) constituted the largest markets for maize bran exported from China worldwide, with a combined 100% share of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +263.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
