U.S. Maize Bran Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the maize bran price per ton amounted to $77.9 (FOB, US), falling by -2.4% against the previous month. Over the last seven months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $79.8 per ton, and then fell slightly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($96.0 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($53.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Maize Bran Exports
In August 2022, maize bran exports from the United States surged to 30K tons, growing by 30% on the previous month. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, maize bran exports surged to $2.3M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months.
U.S. Maize Bran Exports by Country
Canada (16K tons) was the main destination for maize bran exports from the United States, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, maize bran exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Australia (6.1K tons), threefold. the UK (3.4K tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada stood at -4.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Australia (+17.4% per month) and the UK (-7.1% per month).
In value terms, Canada ($1.5M) remains the key foreign market for maize bran exports from the United States, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($321K), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 7.7% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to Canada stood at -1.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Australia (+17.4% per month) and the UK (-7.1% per month).
