China Mango and Mangosteen Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the mango and mangosteen price stood at $3,466 per ton (CIF, China), surging by 16% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 an increase of 158% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in September 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($14.1 per kg), while the price for Indonesia amounted to $3,445 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Mango and Mangosteen Imports
In September 2022, purchases abroad of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas was finally on the rise to reach 5.1K tons for the first time since June 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 when imports increased by 221% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 93K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen imports surged to $18M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when imports increased by 728% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 260K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
China Mango and Mangosteen Imports by Country
In September 2022, Indonesia (5.1K tons) was the main supplier of mango and mangosteen to China, with a 100% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand (10 tons), with a 0.2% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Indonesia stood at +4.0%.
In value terms, Indonesia ($18M) constituted the largest supplier of mango and mangosteen to China, comprising 99% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($141K), with a 0.8% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Indonesia totaled +4.1%.
