China Metal And Other Polishes Import Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the metal and other polishes price amounted to $7,295 per ton (CIF, China), dropping by -3.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $7,793 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($10.6 per kg), while the price for France ($2,031 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

China Metal And Other Polishes Imports

In September 2022, overseas purchases of metal and other polishes decreased by -6% to 6.4K tons, falling for the third month in a row after two months of growth. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 26% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 7.4K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, metal and other polishes imports fell to $47M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when imports increased by 32% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 56K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

China Metal And Other Polishes Imports by Country

Japan (2.3K tons), South Korea (1.7K tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (1.2K tons) were the main suppliers of metal and other polishes imports to China, with a combined 81% share of total imports. The United States and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +2.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest metal and other polishes suppliers to China were Japan ($18M), Taiwan (Chinese) ($12M) and South Korea ($8.8M), with a combined 82% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States and France, which together accounted for a further 16%.

France, with a CAGR of +3.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
