China Mixed Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilizers Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the mixed nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers price stood at $548 per ton (FOB, China), with a decrease of -5.5% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated measured growth from January 2022 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, mixed nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers export price decreased by -25.7% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 56% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $738 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In September 2022, the countries with the highest prices were India ($580 per ton) and Indonesia ($565 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($516 per ton) and Thailand ($520 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Mixed Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilizers Exports
In September 2022, overseas shipments of mixed nitrogen and phosphorus (NP) fertilizers decreased by -38.3% to 62K tons, falling for the second month in a row after five months of growth. In general, exports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 206% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 134K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mixed nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers exports declined remarkably to $34M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 with an increase of 378% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 99K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India (26K tons), the Philippines (15K tons) and Vietnam (8.7K tons) were the main destinations of mixed nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers exports from China, together accounting for 81% of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +138.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for mixed nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers exported from China were India ($15M), the Philippines ($7.9M) and Vietnam ($4.8M), with a combined 82% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +127.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
