China Narrow Woven Fabric Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the narrow woven fabric price stood at $9,314 per ton (FOB, China), with a decrease of -2.5% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 an increase of 9.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $9,558 per ton in August 2022, and then shrank modestly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($20.5 per kg), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($4,047 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Narrow Woven Fabric Export Prices by Type
Average prices varied somewhat for the major types of exported product. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was labels, badges and similar articles; of textile materials, in the piece, in strips or cut to shape or size, not embroidered ($12.4 per kg), while the average price for exports of braids in the piece; ornamental trimmings in the piece, without embroidery, other than knitted or crocheted; tassels, pompons and similar articles ($8,661 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: braids in the piece; ornamental trimmings in the piece, without embroidery, other than knitted or crocheted; tassels, pompons and similar articles (+2.9%), while the prices for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.
China Narrow Woven Fabric Exports
In September 2022, after two months of decline, there was growth in shipments abroad of narrow woven fabrics, when their volume increased by 3% to 23K tons. Overall, exports, however, saw a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 46% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 34K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, narrow woven fabric exports reached $216M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 60% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 284K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
China Narrow Woven Fabric Exports by Type
Fabrics; narrow woven, other than goods of heading no. 5807; narrow fabrics consisting of warp without weft assembled by means of an adhesive (bolducs) (19K tons) was the largest type of narrow woven fabric exported from China, accounting for a 80% share of total exports. Moreover, fabrics; narrow woven, other than goods of heading no. 5807; narrow fabrics consisting of warp without weft assembled by means of an adhesive (bolducs) exceeded the volume of the second product type, labels, badges and similar articles; of textile materials, in the piece, in strips or cut to shape or size, not embroidered (2.9K tons), sixfold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of fabrics; narrow woven, other than goods of heading no. 5807; narrow fabrics consisting of warp without weft assembled by means of an adhesive (bolducs) amounted to -4.6%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: labels, badges and similar articles; of textile materials, in the piece, in strips or cut to shape or size, not embroidered (-5.1% per month) and braids in the piece; ornamental trimmings in the piece, without embroidery, other than knitted or crocheted; tassels, pompons and similar articles (-5.3% per month).
In value terms, fabrics; narrow woven, other than goods of heading no. 5807; narrow fabrics consisting of warp without weft assembled by means of an adhesive (bolducs) ($165M) remains the largest type of narrow woven fabric exported from China, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by labels, badges and similar articles; of textile materials, in the piece, in strips or cut to shape or size, not embroidered ($36M), with a 17% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of fabrics; narrow woven, other than goods of heading no. 5807; narrow fabrics consisting of warp without weft assembled by means of an adhesive (bolducs) totaled -3.0%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: labels, badges and similar articles; of textile materials, in the piece, in strips or cut to shape or size, not embroidered (-5.1% per month) and braids in the piece; ornamental trimmings in the piece, without embroidery, other than knitted or crocheted; tassels, pompons and similar articles (-2.6% per month).
China Narrow Woven Fabric Exports by Country
Bangladesh (2K tons), Vietnam (1.9K tons) and Hong Kong SAR (1.2K tons) were the main destinations of narrow woven fabric exports from China, with a combined 22% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Russia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Brazil, Malaysia and Egypt, which together accounted for a further 37%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in the Philippines (with a CAGR of +0.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the largest markets for narrow woven fabric exported from China were Vietnam ($26M), Hong Kong SAR ($25M) and Bangladesh ($18M), with a combined 32% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Cambodia, the United States, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, India, the Philippines, Russia, Brazil and Egypt, which together accounted for a further 34%.
Among the main countries of destination, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +2.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
