China Natural Rubber And Gum Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the natural rubber and gum price stood at $1,118 per ton (CIF, China), dropping by -8.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 5.9% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,432 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($1,181 per ton), while the price for Vietnam totaled $1,025 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (-1.0%).
China Natural Rubber And Gum Imports
Natural rubber and gum imports into China surged to 65K tons in September 2022, rising by 17% on August 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a notable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 88% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 66K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, natural rubber and gum imports expanded rapidly to $73M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a notable expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, imports decreased by -18.6% against July 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 93% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 89K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
China Natural Rubber And Gum Imports by Country
Thailand (37K tons) and Vietnam (28K tons) were the main suppliers of natural rubber and gum imports to China.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +9.4%).
In value terms, Thailand ($44M) and Vietnam ($28M) constituted the largest natural rubber and gum suppliers to China.
Among the main suppliers, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +7.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review.
