U.S. Non-Electrical Lamp Import Price in July 2022
In July 2022, the average non-electrical lamp price amounted to $1.2 per unit, shrinking by -12.1% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to July 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when the average import price increased by 38% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1.4K per thousand units, and then reduced in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was France ($8.5 per unit), while the price for Oman ($0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+71.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Non-Electrical Lamp Imports
In August 2022, approximately 17M units of non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings were imported into the United States; with a decrease of -22.5% compared with the previous month. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 41% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of 32M units. From March 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-electrical lamp imports reduced dramatically to $22M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, imports showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when imports increased by 10% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 29M units in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to August 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Non-Electrical Lamp Imports by Country
In July 2022, China (12M units) constituted the largest supplier of non-electrical lamp to the United States, with a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, non-electrical lamp imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (3.4M units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Oman (3.1M units), with a 14% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from China amounted to -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: India (+8.8% per month) and Oman (+51.3% per month).
In value terms, China ($15M) constituted the largest supplier of non-electrical lamp to the United States, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($7.3M), with a 27% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 2.8% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: India (+6.9% per month) and the United Arab Emirates (+14.0% per month).
