U.S. Non-Mineral or Non-Aerated Water Import Price in August 2022
In August 2022, the non-mineral or non-aerated water price amounted to $390 per thousand litres (CIF, US), shrinking by -4.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 an increase of 34% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $474.7 per thousand litres. From April 2022 to August 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Italy ($462 per thousand litres), while the price for Fiji ($362 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
U.S. Non-Mineral or Non-Aerated Water Imports
In August 2022, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports into the United States skyrocketed to 63M litres, rising by 57% against July 2022. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports surged to $25M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from January 2022 to August 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +5.8% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.4% against May 2022 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
U.S. Non-Mineral or Non-Aerated Water Imports by Country
In August 2022, Fiji (49M litres) constituted the largest supplier of non-mineral or non-aerated water to the United States, accounting for a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports from Fiji exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (7.5M litres), sevenfold.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Fiji stood at +3.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Italy (+8.1% per month) and Austria (+12.6% per month).
In value terms, Fiji ($18M) constituted the largest supplier of non-mineral or non-aerated water to the United States, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($3.5M), with a 14% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Fiji stood at +4.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Italy (+18.3% per month) and Austria (+11.9% per month).
