U.S. Non-Soap Washing and Cleaning Preparations Export Price per Ton in May 2022
In May 2022, the non-soap washing and cleaning preparations price per ton amounted to $4.1K (FOB, US), with an increase of 9.8% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to May 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 an increase of 13% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4.2K per ton. From March 2022 to May 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In May 2022, the country with the highest price was Israel ($9.2K per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($2.0K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to May 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Non-Soap Washing and Cleaning Preparations Export Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was toothpaste, denture cleaners and other dentifrices ($12.9K per ton), while the average price for exports of crude glycerol, glycerine waters and lyes ($618.6 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: toothpaste (+3.1%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Non-Soap Washing and Cleaning Preparations Exports
In August 2022, shipments abroad of non-soap washing and cleaning preparations increased by 3.7% to 35K tons, rising for the second month in a row after two months of decline. The total export volume increased at an average monthly rate of +4.3% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 32% m-o-m.
In value terms, non-soap washing and cleaning preparations exports amounted to $133M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +4.8% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 25% m-o-m.
U.S. Non-Soap Washing and Cleaning Preparations Exports by Type
Washing and cleaning preparations, surface-active, whether or not containing soap, excluding those used as soap, not put up for retail sale (113K tons) was the largest type of non-soap washing and cleaning preparations exported from the United States, with a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, washing and cleaning preparations, surface-active, whether or not containing soap, excluding those used as soap, not put up for retail sale exceeded the volume of the second product type, crude glycerol, glycerine waters and lyes (7.8K tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of washing and cleaning preparations, surface-active, whether or not containing soap, excluding those used as soap, not put up for retail sale totaled +2.3%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: crude glycerol, glycerine waters and lyes (+6.6% per month) and toothpaste, denture cleaners and other dentifrices (-1.6% per month).
In value terms, washing and cleaning preparations, surface-active, whether or not containing soap, excluding those used as soap, not put up for retail sale ($347M) remains the largest type of non-soap washing and cleaning preparations exported from the United States, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by toothpaste, denture cleaners and other dentifrices ($21M), with a 5.6% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of washing and cleaning preparations, surface-active, whether or not containing soap, excluding those used as soap, not put up for retail sale stood at +2.9%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: toothpaste, denture cleaners and other dentifrices (+1.5% per month) and crude glycerol, glycerine waters and lyes (+4.1% per month).
U.S. Non-Soap Washing and Cleaning Preparations Exports by Country
Mexico (7.3K tons), Canada (7.1K tons) and India (1.7K tons) were the main destinations of non-soap washing and cleaning preparations exports from the United States, together comprising 47% of total exports. South Korea, Belgium, China, Brazil, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Germany, Taiwan (Chinese), Singapore, Israel and Colombia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
From January 2022 to May 2022, the biggest increases were in Germany (with a CAGR of +20.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Canada ($30M), Mexico ($19M) and China ($8.8M) constituted the largest markets for non-soap washing and cleaning preparations exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 42% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, South Korea, Israel, the Netherlands, Taiwan (Chinese), Brazil, Germany, Japan, India, Singapore, Colombia and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 37%.
Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +33.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
