U.S. Nonwoven Fabric Import Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the nonwoven fabric price per ton amounted to $5.8K (CIF, US), leveling off at the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 an increase of 852% against the previous month. The import price peaked in August 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($15.8K per ton), while the price for Spain ($2.6K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+76.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Nonwoven Fabric Imports
In August 2022, after two months of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of nonwoven fabrics, when their volume increased by 6.7% to 14K tons. In general, imports, however, showed a significant decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when imports increased by 49% m-o-m.
In value terms, nonwoven fabric imports stood at $79M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 16% month-to-month.
U.S. Nonwoven Fabric Imports by Country
In August 2022, China (3.5K tons) constituted the largest supplier of nonwoven fabric to the United States, accounting for a 26% share of total imports. Moreover, nonwoven fabric imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Canada (1.6K tons), twofold. Spain (1.3K tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.6% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from China amounted to -21.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Canada (-0.1% per month) and Spain (+22.5% per month).
In value terms, the largest nonwoven fabric suppliers to the United States were China ($13M), Japan ($12M) and Canada ($9.4M), with a combined 44% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, India, Spain, Mexico, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, Taiwan (Chinese), the Netherlands, Greece, Israel and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 41%.
Spain, with a CAGR of +17.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
