China Nuts Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the nuts price amounted to $3,676 per ton, therefore (CIF, China), remained relatively stable against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 19% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,052 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to September 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Iran ($7,825 per ton), while the price for Togo ($904 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Nuts Import Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was pistachios ($6,650 per ton), while the price for cashew nuts ($911 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by nuts, nes (+0.4%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Nuts Imports
In September 2022, imports of nuts into China stood at 23K tons, surging by 11% against the previous month's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 when imports increased by 50% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in September 2022.
In value terms, nuts imports rose notably to $86M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 with an increase of 79% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 108K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
China Nuts Imports by Type
In September 2022, nuts, nes (11K tons) constituted the largest type of nuts supplied to China, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, nuts, nes exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, almonds (5.6K tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by pistachios (2.4K tons), with a 10% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of nuts, nes stood at +19.6%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: almonds (-2.2% per month) and pistachios (-13.6% per month).
In value terms, nuts, nes ($42M) constituted the largest type of nuts supplied to China, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by almonds ($21M), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by pistachios, with an 18% share.
China Nuts Imports by Country
Australia (4.4K tons), the United States (3.5K tons) and South Korea (2.1K tons) were the main suppliers of nuts imports to China, together comprising 43% of total imports. These countries were followed by Togo, Chile and Iran, which together accounted for a further 8.8%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Togo (with a CAGR of +77.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($19M), Australia ($17M) and South Korea ($4.3M) appeared to be the largest nuts suppliers to China, with a combined 47% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Togo, Chile and Iran, which together accounted for a further 3.7%.
Togo, with a CAGR of +75.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
