U.S. Other Nonferrous Metal Foundry Import Price in December 2021
In December 2021, the other nonferrous metal foundry price stood at $19.9 per kg (CIF, US), shrinking by -7.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 an increase of 36% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $24,372 per ton. From July 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($36.2 per kg), while the price for China ($5,147 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Other Nonferrous Metal Foundry Imports
In December 2021, the amount of other nonferrous metal foundries (except die-casting) imported into the United States surged to 360 tons, increasing by 44% against November 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from January 2021 to December 2021: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, imports increased by +43.8% against November 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2021 with an increase of 85% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 497 tons in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to December 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, other nonferrous metal foundry imports soared to $7.2M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. In general, total imports indicated tangible growth from January 2021 to December 2021: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, imports decreased by -36.0% against July 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2021 with an increase of 41% month-to-month. Imports peaked at 11K tons in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to December 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
U.S. Other Nonferrous Metal Foundry Imports by Country
In December 2021, Taiwan (Chinese) (144 tons) constituted the largest supplier of other nonferrous metal foundry to the United States, with a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, other nonferrous metal foundry imports from Taiwan (Chinese) exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (65 tons), twofold. Japan (28 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.8% share.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Taiwan (Chinese) totaled +2.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Sweden (+43.3% per month) and Japan (+9.2% per month).
In value terms, Taiwan (Chinese) ($3.1M) constituted the largest supplier of other nonferrous metal foundry to the United States, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($1M), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with an 8.9% share.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the average monthly growth rate of value from Taiwan (Chinese) totaled +3.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Sweden (+40.0% per month) and Japan (+8.6% per month).
