China Other Personal Preparations (Perfumeries, Toilet, Depilatories...) Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the other personal preparations (perfumeries, toilet, depilatories...) price stood at $4,697 per ton (FOB, China), waning by -18.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 54% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,404 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($23.4 per kg), while the average price for exports to Myanmar ($898 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, exports of other personal preparations (perfumeries, toilet, depilatories...) from China declined to 17K tons, waning by -7.2% compared with the previous month. Overall, exports showed a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 38% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 20K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of other personal preparations (perfumeries, toilet, depilatories...) declined markedly to $79M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when exports increased by 58% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at 115K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

China Other Personal Preparations (Perfumeries, Toilet, Depilatories...) Exports by Country

The United States (2.8K tons), Japan (2K tons) and the Philippines (1.6K tons) were the main destinations of exports of other personal preparations (perfumeries, toilet, depilatories...) from China, with a combined 38% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Thailand, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Colombia, New Zealand, Myanmar and Chile, which together accounted for a further 36%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in New Zealand (with a CAGR of +38.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($20M) remains the key foreign market for other personal preparations (perfumeries, toilet, depilatories...) exports from China, comprising 25% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($7.9M), with a 9.9% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 7.5% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to -8.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Japan (-6.8% per month) and the United States (-2.8% per month).
