China Oxygen-Function Amino-Compounds Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the oxygen-function amino-compounds price stood at $2,952 per ton (FOB, China), falling by -11.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 11% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,697 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($4,614 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($1,494 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

China Oxygen-Function Amino-Compounds Exports

In September 2022, overseas shipments of oxygen-function amino-compounds (excluding amino- alcohols, their esters and ethers and salts thereof, lysine and its salts and esters, glutamic acid its salts and esters) increased by 6.1% to 76K tons for the first time since May 2022, thus ending a three-month declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 11% m-o-m. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 104K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, oxygen-function amino-compounds exports dropped to $224M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 18% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 350K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

China Oxygen-Function Amino-Compounds Exports by Country

The Netherlands (11K tons), India (8.1K tons) and the United States (6.4K tons) were the main destinations of oxygen-function amino-compounds exports from China, with a combined 33% share of total exports.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +2.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, India ($36M), the United States ($27M) and the Netherlands ($19M) appeared to be the largest markets for oxygen-function amino-compounds exported from China worldwide, together comprising 37% of total exports. These countries were followed by Japan, Germany, South Korea, Russia, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 32%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Germany, with a CAGR of -2.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
