China O-Xylene Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the o-xylene price amounted to $1,068 per ton (CIF, China), with a decrease of -98.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 2,238% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $83.6 per kg in August 2022, and then dropped rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($4,177 per ton), while the price for Singapore totaled $1,065 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China O-Xylene Imports
In September 2022, overseas purchases of o-xylene increased by 29,422,500% to 2.1K tons for the first time since June 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. In general, imports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. Imports peaked at 24K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, o-xylene imports surged to $2.2M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2022 with an increase of 660,585% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 24K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
China O-Xylene Imports by Country
In September 2022, Singapore (2.1K tons) was the main o-xylene supplier to China, accounting for a 100% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan (1.1 tons), with a 0.1% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Singapore stood at -13.1%.
In value terms, Singapore ($2.2M) constituted the largest supplier of o-xylene to China, comprising 100% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($4.5K), with a 0.2% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Singapore amounted to -11.4%.
