China Particle Board Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the particle board price stood at $323 per cubic meter (CIF, China), increasing by 2.1% against the previous month. Over the last eight-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 18% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $362 per cubic meter in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Italy ($633 per cubic meter), while the price for Thailand ($180 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Particle Board Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was wooden particle board ($452 per cubic meter), while the price for waferboards ($293 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by board of bagasse, bamboo or other particles (+54.3%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Particle Board Imports
In September 2022, approximately 81K cubic meters of particle boards were imported into China; shrinking by -33.9% compared with August 2022 figures. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 57% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 156K cubic meters in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, particle board imports contracted remarkably to $26M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 61% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of $46M. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
China Particle Board Imports by Type
In September 2022, waferboards (51K cubic meters) constituted the largest type of particle board supplied to China, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, waferboards exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, oriented strandboard (OSB) (19K cubic meters), threefold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of waferboards stood at -7.9%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: oriented strandboard (OSB) (-9.2% per month) and wooden particle board (-5.1% per month).
In value terms, waferboards ($15M) constituted the largest type of particle board supplied to China, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by oriented strandboard (OSB) ($6.3M), with a 24% share of total imports.
China Particle Board Imports by Country
Romania (20K cubic meters), Brazil (17K cubic meters) and Thailand (8.4K cubic meters) were the main suppliers of particle board imports to China, together accounting for 56% of total imports. Malaysia, Germany, Russia, Belarus, Vietnam, Italy and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Belarus (with a CAGR of +106.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest particle board suppliers to China were Romania ($8.6M), Brazil ($4.5M) and Italy ($2.4M), with a combined 59% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Thailand, Malaysia, Russia, Belarus, Austria and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 37%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +77.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
