China Pasta And Couscous Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the pasta and couscous price amounted to $1,896 per ton (FOB, China), stabilizing at the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 4.5% against the previous month. The export price peaked in September 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,942 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($1,414 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Pasta And Couscous Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was pasta stuffed with meat, fish and cheese ($2,585 per ton), while the average price for exports of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products totaled $1,721 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: meat, fish and cheese pasta (+0.9%), while the prices for the other product experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Pasta And Couscous Exports
In September 2022, the amount of stuffed pasta and couscous exported from China declined to 50K tons, shrinking by -6.4% compared with August 2022 figures. In general, exports saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 57% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 59K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pasta and couscous exports contracted to $94M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 54% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 108K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
China Pasta And Couscous Exports by Type
Dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products (40K tons) was the largest type of pasta and couscous exported from China, with a 80% share of total exports. Moreover, dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products exceeded the volume of the second product type, pasta stuffed with meat, fish and cheese (10K tons), fourfold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products stood at -2.1%.
In value terms, dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products ($68M) remains the largest type of pasta and couscous exported from China, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by pasta stuffed with meat, fish and cheese ($26M), with a 28% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products totaled -1.8%.
China Pasta And Couscous Exports by Country
Hong Kong SAR (8.3K tons), South Korea (6.5K tons) and the United States (5.8K tons) were the main destinations of pasta and couscous exports from China, together comprising 41% of total exports. These countries were followed by Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Japan, the UK, Russia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Germany and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 39%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +1.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for pasta and couscous exported from China were Hong Kong SAR ($17M), the United States ($12M) and South Korea ($9.2M), with a combined 41% share of total exports. Canada, Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, the UK, Russia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Germany and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
Among the main countries of destination, Russia, with a CAGR of +1.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
