China Pear Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the pear price stood at $1,085 per ton (FOB, China), waning by -2.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 19% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,276 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($1,743 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($824 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Pear Exports
In September 2022, overseas shipments of pears increased by 7.7% to 61K tons, rising for the third month in a row after three months of decline. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 when exports increased by 102% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in September 2022.
In value terms, pear exports totaled $66M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, exports posted slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when exports increased by 96% against the previous month. The exports peaked in September 2022.
China Pear Exports by Country
Indonesia (23K tons), Vietnam (12K tons) and Thailand (6.6K tons) were the main destinations of pear exports from China, together accounting for 69% of total exports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia and Uzbekistan, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +155.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for pear exported from China were Indonesia ($19M), Vietnam ($13M) and Thailand ($8.2M), together comprising 61% of total exports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, the United States, Malaysia, Canada, the Netherlands, Russia, Uzbekistan and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 31%.
Among the main countries of destination, Russia, with a CAGR of +132.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
