U.S. Pear Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the pear price per ton amounted to $1.7K (FOB, US), increasing by 9.7% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 when the average export price increased by 12% month-to-month. The export price peaked in August 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($1.8K per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($1.2K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Pear Exports
For the seventh month in a row, the United States recorded decline in shipments abroad of pears, which decreased by -44.5% to 2.7K tons in August 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a precipitous decrease. The smallest decline of -3.1% was in July 2022.
In value terms, pear exports dropped rapidly to $4.6M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Overall, exports showed a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 with an increase of 8.4% m-o-m.
U.S. Pear Exports by Country
Canada (1.6K tons), Mexico (944 tons) and Guatemala (136 tons) were the main destinations of pear exports from the United States, with a combined 98% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Guatemala (with a CAGR of -5.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Canada ($3M) emerged as the key foreign market for pear exports from the United States, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mexico ($1.4M), with a 31% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Canada amounted to -10.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Mexico (-24.1% per month) and Guatemala (-4.9% per month).
