China Persimmon Export Price in February 2022
In February 2022, the persimmon price amounted to $1,292 per ton (FOB, China), with an increase of 5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2021 an increase of 558% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,712 per ton in January 2021; however, from February 2021 to February 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($1,373 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($810 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
China Persimmon Exports
In February 2022, shipments abroad of persimmons decreased by -93.1% to 245 tons, falling for the fourth month in a row after five months of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a precipitous decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 when exports increased by 19,159% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 27K tons in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to February 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, persimmon exports fell sharply to $317K (IndexBox estimates) in February 2022. In general, exports faced a significant decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 with an increase of 19,396% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 35K tons in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to February 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
China Persimmon Exports by Country
Vietnam (106 tons), Thailand (92 tons) and Hong Kong SAR (31 tons) were the main destinations of persimmon exports from China, together comprising 94% of total exports.
From January 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +16.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the largest markets for persimmon exported from China were Vietnam ($141K), Thailand ($127K) and Hong Kong SAR ($41K), with a combined 98% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +15.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
