China Phenolphthalein And Lactones Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the phenolphthalein and lactones price stood at $19.4 per kg (FOB, China), surging by 6.7% against the previous month. Over the last eight months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 36% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $19,670 per ton. From May 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($36.6 per kg), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($4,170 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Phenolphthalein And Lactones Exports

In September 2022, shipments abroad of phenolphthalein and lactones decreased by -3.2% to 6.4K tons, falling for the second consecutive month after three months of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when exports increased by 27% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 9.2K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, phenolphthalein and lactones exports rose modestly to $124M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 29% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 153K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China Phenolphthalein And Lactones Exports by Country

India (697 tons), Germany (660 tons) and South Korea (606 tons) were the main destinations of phenolphthalein and lactones exports from China, together accounting for 31% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Egypt, Switzerland, Belgium, Singapore, Russia and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 47%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +54.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for phenolphthalein and lactones exported from China were India ($24M), the United States ($22M) and Brazil ($13M), with a combined 48% share of total exports. Japan, South Korea, Germany, Mexico, Singapore, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.

Among the main countries of destination, Belgium, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
