China Phenols And Other Oils And Oil Products Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the phenols and other oils and oil products price stood at $1,306 per ton (CIF, China), rising by 27% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated resilient growth from January 2022 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.7% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, import price for phenols and other oils and oil products decreased by -11.5% against July 2022 indices. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,476 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,442 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($817 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, the amount of phenols and other oils and oil products imported into China declined significantly to 14K tons, shrinking by -71.6% on the previous month. In general, imports showed a dramatic descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 with an increase of 699% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at 175K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of phenols and other oils and oil products contracted notably to $18M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, imports recorded a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when imports increased by 455% month-to-month. Imports peaked at 148K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand (5.9K tons), Germany (3.1K tons) and Malaysia (1.3K tons) were the main suppliers of imports of phenols and other oils and oil products to China, together accounting for 75% of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Thailand (with a CAGR of +14.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest phenols and other oils and oil products suppliers to China were Thailand ($5.6M), Germany ($3.7M) and the United States ($3.1M), together accounting for 70% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Thailand, with a CAGR of +14.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
