In September 2022, the photographic plates and film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed, of any material; instant print film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed (excluding paper; paperboard or textiles) price stood at $3,665 per ton (FOB, China), stabilizing at the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 3.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,939 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($6,807 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($2,981 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, shipments abroad of photographic plates and film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed, of any material; instant print film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed (excluding paper; paperboard or textiles) decreased by -5.9% to 19K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after two months of growth. Overall, exports continue to indicate a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 25% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 25K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of photographic plates and film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed, of any material; instant print film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed (excluding paper; paperboard or textiles) shrank to $70M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 27% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports of photographic plates and film in flat, sensitised and unexposed, of any material; instant print film in flat, sensitised and unexposed (excluding paper; paperboard or textiles) reached the peak figure at 95K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

South Korea (2.8K tons), India (2.1K tons) and Belgium (1.8K tons) were the main destinations of exports of photographic plates and film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed, of any material; instant print film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed (excluding paper; paperboard or textiles) from China, together comprising 35% of total exports. Indonesia, Taiwan (Chinese), the Netherlands, Vietnam, Russia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Spain, the United States and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Singapore (with a CAGR of +10.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for photographic plates and film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed, of any material; instant print film in the flat, sensitised and unexposed (excluding paper; paperboard or textiles) exported from China were South Korea ($9.5M), Belgium ($7.9M) and India ($7.2M), with a combined 35% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese), Indonesia, Singapore, the Netherlands, Vietnam, Russia, the United States, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.
Singapore, with a CAGR of +10.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
