China Pile And Chenille Fabric Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the pile and chenille fabric price stood at $5,674 per ton (FOB, China), declining by -7.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when the average export price increased by 9.5% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $7,308 per ton in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($7,282 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($3,995 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: fabrics; chenille, of cotton, other than fabrics of heading no. 5802 or 5806 (+6.0%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, overseas shipments of woven pile fabrics and chenille fabrics decreased by -6.2% to 8.8K tons, falling for the fourth month in a row after three months of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 with an increase of 30% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 17K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

China Pile And Chenille Fabric Exports by Country

Vietnam (1K tons), the United States (1K tons) and Poland (753 tons) were the main destinations of pile and chenille fabric exports from China, with a combined 32% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Russia, South Korea, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Jordan, Uzbekistan, India and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 36%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in South Korea (with a CAGR of +21.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($7.2M), the United States ($6.8M) and the UK ($3M) appeared to be the largest markets for pile and chenille fabric exported from China worldwide, with a combined 34% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, Bangladesh, Mexico, South Korea, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, India, Jordan and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 34%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, South Korea, with a CAGR of +18.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
