China Plaster Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the plaster price amounted to $118 per ton (CIF, China), dropping by -10.4% against the previous month. Over the last eight months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 26% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $132 per ton, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($225 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($64.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Plaster Imports
In September 2022, imports of plaster into China totaled 17K tons, picking up by 13% on the previous month's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 197% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 46K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plaster imports amounted to $2M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 195% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4.1M. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
China Plaster Imports by Country
the United Arab Emirates (7K tons), Iran (6K tons) and Thailand (2.6K tons) were the main suppliers of plaster imports to China, together comprising 91% of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of -0.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Thailand ($588K), the United Arab Emirates ($449K) and Iran ($421K) appeared to be the largest plaster suppliers to China, with a combined 71% share of total imports.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +0.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
