U.S. Plastic Hose and Hose Fitting Import Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the plastic hose and hose fitting price per ton amounted to $7.5K (CIF, US), picking up by 10% against the previous month. Over the last seven months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($65.7K per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($3.4K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+24.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Plastic Hose and Hose Fitting Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In August 2022, the product with the highest price was flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with fittings ($14.0K per ton), while the price for flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, without fittings ($5.5K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with fittings (+5.6%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Plastic Hose and Hose Fitting Imports
In August 2022, overseas purchases of plastic hoses and hose fittings increased by 7.3% to 23K tons for the first time since May 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% from January 2022 to August 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 18% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of 25K tons. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic hose and hose fitting imports surged to $173M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +4.8% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
U.S. Plastic Hose and Hose Fitting Imports by Type
Flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, without fittings (10K tons), other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses (8.6K tons) and flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with fittings (3.4K tons) were the main products of plastic hose and hose fitting imports to the United States, with a combined 96% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the major product types, was attained by flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with fittings (with a CAGR of +6.1%), while imports for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses ($57M), flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, without fittings ($55M) and flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, with fittings ($48M) constituted the most imported types of plastic hoses and hose fittings in the United States, with a combined 93% share of total imports.
U.S. Plastic Hose and Hose Fitting Imports by Country
China (6.8K tons), Canada (4.4K tons) and Mexico (4K tons) were the main suppliers of plastic hose and hose fitting imports to the United States, with a combined 66% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), Vietnam, South Korea, Germany, Spain and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 22%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +79.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($35M), Mexico ($26M) and Singapore ($23M) were the largest plastic hose and hose fitting suppliers to the United States, with a combined 49% share of total imports.
Singapore, with a CAGR of +121.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
