China Plum And Sloe Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the plum and sloe price amounted to $5,200 per ton (CIF, China), dropping by -15.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 263% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $7,417 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,330 per ton), while the price for Spain amounted to $3,622 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
China Plum And Sloe Imports
In September 2022, purchases abroad of plums and sloes increased by 41% to 830 tons, rising for the second consecutive month after three months of decline. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 902% month-to-month. Imports peaked at 49K tons in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plum and sloe imports skyrocketed to $4.3M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 372% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 109K tons in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In September 2022, the United States (767 tons) was the main supplier of plum and sloe to China, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, plum and sloe imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (63 tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from the United States totaled +185.3%.
In value terms, the United States ($4.1M) constituted the largest supplier of plum and sloe to China, comprising 95% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($229K), with a 5.3% share of total imports.
