China Polyesters In Primary Forms Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the polyesters in primary forms price stood at $2,281 per ton (FOB, China), which is down by -9.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 3.2% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,948 per ton. From May 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($2,978 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($1,786 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

China Polyesters In Primary Forms Exports

In September 2022, exports of polyesters in primary forms (excluding polyacetals, polyethers, epoxide resins, polycarbonates, alkyd resins, polyethylene terephthalate, other unsaturated polyesters) from China expanded to 42K tons, with an increase of 3.1% on the previous month. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 22% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 54K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, polyesters in primary forms exports declined to $95M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 156K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

China Polyesters In Primary Forms Exports by Country

South Korea (6.2K tons), India (5.9K tons) and Vietnam (4.1K tons) were the main destinations of polyesters in primary forms exports from China, together comprising 39% of total exports.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +9.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for polyesters in primary forms exported from China were South Korea ($12M), India ($12M) and Vietnam ($10M), with a combined 36% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Japan, Thailand, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Brazil and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 40%.

Russia, with a CAGR of +6.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
