U.S. Precious Stone And Pearl Export Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the precious stone and pearl price per ton stood at $122.2K (FOB, US), dropping by -96.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a dramatic curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 395% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3.7M per ton, and then shrank rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was India ($746.9K per ton), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($865.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+32.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
U.S. Precious Stone And Pearl Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In June 2022, the product with the highest price was pearls; cultured, worked, whether or not graded (but not strung, mounted or set), ungraded and temporarily strung for convenience of transport ($1.3B per ton), while the average price for exports of stones; rubies, sapphires and emeralds, worked (other than simply sawn or roughly shaped), not strung, mounted or set ($14.0K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: diamonds; non-industrial, (other than unworked or simply sawn, cleaved or bruted), but not mounted or set (0.0%), while the prices for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.
U.S. Precious Stone And Pearl Exports
In June 2022, approximately 17K tons of cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones were exported from the United States; rising by 3,930% compared with the previous month. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, precious stone and pearl exports soared to $2.1B (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +7.0% from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 34% m-o-m. The exports peaked in June 2022.
U.S. Precious Stone And Pearl Exports by Type
Stones; rubies, sapphires and emeralds, worked (other than simply sawn or roughly shaped), not strung, mounted or set (16K tons) was the largest type of precious stone and pearl exported from the United States, accounting for a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, stones; rubies, sapphires and emeralds, worked (other than simply sawn or roughly shaped), not strung, mounted or set exceeded the volume of the second product type, stones; precious (other than diamonds) and semi-precious stones, (other than rubies, sapphires and emeralds), worked other than simply sawn or roughly shaped, not strung, mounted or set (1.3K tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of stones; rubies, sapphires and emeralds, worked (other than simply sawn or roughly shaped), not strung, mounted or set stood at +97.0%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: stones; precious (other than diamonds) and semi-precious stones, (other than rubies, sapphires and emeralds), worked other than simply sawn or roughly shaped, not strung, mounted or set (+29.4% per month) and pearls; cultured, worked, whether or not graded (but not strung, mounted or set), ungraded and temporarily strung for convenience of transport (-47.8% per month).
In value terms, diamonds; non-industrial, (other than unworked or simply sawn, cleaved or bruted), but not mounted or set ($1.8B) remains the largest type of precious stone and pearl exported from the United States, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by stones; rubies, sapphires and emeralds, worked (other than simply sawn or roughly shaped), not strung, mounted or set ($218M), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by stones; precious (other than diamonds) and semi-precious stones, (other than rubies, sapphires and emeralds), worked other than simply sawn or roughly shaped, not strung, mounted or set, with a 1.3% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of diamonds; non-industrial, (other than unworked or simply sawn, cleaved or bruted), but not mounted or set totaled +5.6%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: stones; rubies, sapphires and emeralds, worked (other than simply sawn or roughly shaped), not strung, mounted or set (+23.7% per month) and stones; precious (other than diamonds) and semi-precious stones, (other than rubies, sapphires and emeralds), worked other than simply sawn or roughly shaped, not strung, mounted or set (+22.9% per month).
U.S. Precious Stone And Pearl Exports by Country
Thailand (15K tons) was the main destination for precious stone and pearl exports from the United States, with a 87% share of total exports. Moreover, precious stone and pearl exports to Thailand exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (868 tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (556 tons), with a 3.3% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Thailand totaled +141.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+58.7% per month) and India (+2.9% per month).
In value terms, the largest markets for precious stone and pearl exported from the United States were India ($416M), Hong Kong SAR ($212M) and Thailand ($91M), together accounting for 35% of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Thailand, with a CAGR of +44.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
