U.S. Preserved Peas Import Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the preserved peas price per ton amounted to $1.9K (CIF, US), jumping by 17% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 an increase of 63% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2.9K per ton. From May 2022 to August 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($8.5K per ton), while the price for Chile ($1.0K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Preserved Peas Imports
In August 2022, purchases abroad of preserved peas decreased by -8.3% to 884 tons, falling for the second month in a row after two months of growth. In general, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 63% month-to-month.
In value terms, preserved peas imports rose notably to $1.7M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from January 2022 to August 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, imports decreased by -30.4% against June 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 48% m-o-m.

The UK (237 tons), Brazil (219 tons) and China (99 tons) were the main suppliers of preserved peas imports to the United States, together comprising 63% of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +37.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest preserved peas suppliers to the United States were Brazil ($302K), the UK ($297K) and Malaysia ($247K), together accounting for 51% of total imports.
